Hello. I’m Naomi Hatto and am the English Assistant at Max-Reger-Gymnasium until the end of February. I currently study German and Swedish at university in Edinburgh, Scotland and I am in my 3^rd year of a 4 year course. Students of languages in the U.K. have to spend their 3^rd year abroad in order to see for themselves how the people, who speak the language they are learning, live and what their culture is like. I’m only here until February because I am studying 2 languages and therefore have to split my time between the 2 countries. In terms of interests I enjoy reading and playing the violin as well as rock climbing and various other sports.

It’s been very interesting living here in the Oberpfalz. It’s an area of Germany that I hadn’t visited before and has given me an excellent insight into the lifestyle and culture of the people here, as well as highlighting that like English, there are many different dialects and accents in Germany. Understanding the dialect spoken here has been challenging but I’m making progress. Living here has helped me to understand more about one of the languages I’m studying.

So far I have thoroughly enjoyed being the English Assistant at Max-Reger-Gymnasium and hope that I have been able to successfully share my knowledge of England and the U.K with the pupils I have had the pleasure of teaching.
